During the late 70's, Chic was one of the best disco groups around, if not, THE BEST. Nile Rodger played the up-tempo part of the music with his rhythm guitar and Bernard Edwards fill in the rest with his bass guitar. The bass guitar in their music was like no other, never before had the bass have so much rhythm and so much attention in pop music. Bernard Edwards made a lot of people interested in playing the bass, one of them being John Taylor of Duran Duran. Many people have sampled off Chic's music, especially the song "Good Times." The Sugar Hill Gang used it for their first single (and rap's first ever top-40 single) "Rapper's Delight." Queen also used the bass line in the music for their #1 hit "Another One Bites The Dust."
During their hey-days of music, they have five top 10 hits. This includes two #1 hits ("Le Freak" and "Good Times"). Other hits include Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah), My Forbidden Lover, and I Want Your Love. In the 80's, both Nile and Bernard become successful pop producers, who went on to produce such artists as David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran, Robert Palmer, Jeff Beck, and others.
This will be more information added in the future.
